Dan Burns, Principal & Creative Director
DAN BURNS designs elegant, modern homes where clients can love and grow, celebrate friends and family, be happy and create a lifetime of memories. At the heart of Dan’s work is a strong point of view that is inspired by his love for color, texture and material, and informed by the latest trends in interior design, fashion, and culture. Dan’s intuitive approach creates a space of collaboration, meeting clients where they are and honoring the way they live.
For more than 20 years, Dan has worked with the leading design and architecture firms on the East and West Coasts, successfully leading high-end residential and retail projects in Manhattan, San Francisco and Silicon Valley, the Hamptons, Miami, Los Angeles, Aspen, and Nantucket. His interiors have been featured in U.S. and international design publications including Elle Décor, Interior Design Magazine, Marie Claire Maison, Interiors Magazine, New York Spaces, and Dwell Magazine. Dan’s work from his last two firms are now featured in Rizzoli books, NICOL HOLLIS CURATED INTERIORS and WORKSHOP APD HOMES.
In 2004, Dan founded Jarlathdan, a design studio and home store in the Hamptons, that was featured in Elle Décor as the “New Chic on the Beach” with seasonal curated collections of furniture, products, and accessories. Jarlathdan’s success was built on Dan’s extensive experience in retail design and branding, having conceived and launched Manhattan flagship retail stores for Theory, Helmut Lang, and Rebecca Taylor, and led visual merchandizing teams for J. Crew and Brooks Brothers.
Dan has earned degrees in Architecture from the prestigious Pratt Institute School of Architecture in Brooklyn, and in Interior Design from the Philadelphia College of Textile and Sciences.
